The energy tax credit is for materials only (installation costs do not apply) for the tax years of 2009 & 2010 combined. This tax credit expires on December 31, 2010 and must be for your existing home or principal residence. It does not apply to new construction or rentals. Please note: Not all Energy Star products qualify. The credits apply to:

If your windows were installed before 6/1/09, they must be Energy Star rated. All Energy Star rated windows and doors that were installed between Jan. 1st- May 31st. qualify for this credit! After 6/1/09, your windows must have a U Factor of <0.30 and a SHGC (Solar Heat Gain Coefficient) of <0.30 and NOT ALL Energy Star Rated windows will qualify.
